The Fundamental Home
Looking at the fundamental building blocks of architecture, one can see that three elements are the main features: planes, corners, and openings. Each one of these elements can be broken further down into categories of distinct variations and by combining different types (and throwing in certain formal modifications) the whole world of architecture can be repeated.
Planes: How ground and ceiling interact. Parallel, levitating, or angled to name a few.
Corners: How planes meet. Are they perpendicular, beveled, or curved?
Openings: Windows and doors and how they are situated on a plane.
Through these three categories, a full 225 different combinations are possible, each being fundamentally unique from any other. Using the breadth of options from the architectural taxonomy, the Fundamental Home takes these particular elements to produce a unique home. Rather than relying on traditional spatial elements, the Home seeks to experiment and create unfamiliar combinations, unrecognizable constructs, and thus a new breed of a house.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
